Technical Assistance
BASICS works in-depth in countries on comprehensive strategies and targeted interventions for newborn and child health. It also develops and tests state-of-the-art frameworks, processes, and tools, and works to expand the scale of child survival interventions worldwide. The project's staff provides expertise in—
- Facilitating partnerships for child health through participatory reviews, analysis of new threats and opportunities, joint planning, and technical support.
- Delivering state-of-the-art technical training and capacity building in newborn and child health case management, and evidence-based interventions.
- Scaling-up effective interventions
- Facilitating distance- and web-based learning in health, management, and leadership.
- Supporting quality assurance, performance improvement, collaborative learning, and accreditation and certification.
- Assessing health systems, including performance indicators, quality assurance, human resources, health management information systems, and financing.
- Developing standards and guidelines for newborn and child health.
- Designing and implementing delivery mechanisms for newborn and child health interventions in households, communities, and health facilities.
- Developing and strengthening health management information systems.
- Monitoring and evaluation of programs and interventions.
- Planning strategies and developing policies for newborn and child survival.
- Costing intervention packages and tracking resources, financing, and budgets.
- Developing behavior change communications and approaches for social mobilization.
- Assessing newborn and child survival needs in fragile states and during complex humanitarian emergencies.
