Technical Assistance

BASICS works in-depth in countries on comprehensive strategies and targeted interventions for newborn and child health. It also develops and tests state-of-the-art frameworks, processes, and tools, and works to expand the scale of child survival interventions worldwide. The project's staff provides expertise in—

  • Facilitating partnerships for child health through participatory reviews, analysis of new threats and opportunities, joint planning, and technical support.
  • Delivering state-of-the-art technical training and capacity building in newborn and child health case management, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Scaling-up effective interventions
  • Facilitating distance- and web-based learning in health, management, and leadership.
  • Supporting quality assurance, performance improvement, collaborative learning, and accreditation and certification.
  • Assessing health systems, including performance indicators, quality assurance, human resources, health management information systems, and financing.
  • Developing standards and guidelines for newborn and child health.
  • Designing and implementing delivery mechanisms for newborn and child health interventions in households, communities, and health facilities.
  • Developing and strengthening health management information systems.
  • Monitoring and evaluation of programs and interventions.
  • Planning strategies and developing policies for newborn and child survival.
  • Costing intervention packages and tracking resources, financing, and budgets.
  • Developing behavior change communications and approaches for social mobilization.
  • Assessing newborn and child survival needs in fragile states and during complex humanitarian emergencies.
