Global Leadership

An important aspect of BASICS' mission is to provide global leadership in formulating and implementing key policies that will improve child survival, as well as identifying, evaluating, and applying approaches that deepen the impact of country programs. BASICS' "Priority Lines of Work for Global Leadership" include—

  • Community-based treatment of common childhood illnesses.
  • Private-sector participation in delivering newborn and child survival interventions.
  • Incorporating essential newborn care, essential nutrition actions, and pediatric HIV/AIDS into maternal and child health programs.
  • Fragile and Post-conflict States (with a focus on maternal and child health).

BASICS' global leadership is strengthened through partnerships that promote the scale-up of essential health and nutrition interventions and support their implementation. Key affiliations include the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health, and Roll Back Malaria.

BASICS also collaborates with WHO, UNICEF, the World Bank, non-governmental organizations, private foundations, and scientific bodies to contribute to the development and operationalization of state-of-the-art child survival initiatives.
