Swaziland
The Population Council and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation manage an operational research project that aims to improve the quality and utilization of postnatal care and follow-up of HIV-positive and HIV-negative mothers and their babies in Swaziland, home to one of the world's highest rates of HIV infection. A primary contributor to the project, BASICS supports training and supervision for maternal and neonatal health care providers, and facilitates the necessary organizational changes for the provision of these services.
